A New ChallengeI started my professional career in Romania, where I worked as Technical Support in a call centre for Xfinity USA. After moving to the Netherlands, I decided to switch to logistics. I first worked for Nippon Express and later joined Dachser, where I started as a Logistics Medewerker before becoming a Loader.
My responsibilities included loading operations, ensuring accuracy, completing the necessary documentation, maintaining good teamwork and communication, and always prioritising safety.
After some time, I felt it was time for a new challenge. I had become tired of the same daily routine and wanted something different—more dynamic and more challenging. While exploring new opportunities and applying for different positions, I realised I wanted to make a real career change.
That was when I was approached by Proactive Global. They introduced me to an opportunity as a Machine Operator/System Operator for Witron, which later became Jumbo.
From the very beginning, I had a positive impression. The communication was clear, direct and professional. Benno and Zinaida created a friendly atmosphere that made me feel comfortable throughout the recruitment process. They explained both the role and every step of the process clearly and were transparent about what I could expect. That gave me the confidence to make an informed decision and convinced me that this was the right move for me.
Learning Something Completely New
Moving from logistics into a Machine Operator role was a significant step, but many of the skills I had developed in my previous jobs turned out to be valuable.
Working under pressure, staying patient and organised, maintaining a fast work pace and learning new systems quickly all helped me adapt to the new environment. While there are similarities between logistics and machine operations, the role requires a different way of thinking.
For me, it is about being logical, solving problems and being prepared every day for new tasks and new challenges. That is what I enjoy most about the job. Every day is different, and there is always something new to learn.
Growing Within Jumbo
Since joining the company, my journey has been very diverse. I started in Depal, later moved to AIO (All-in-One), worked across both Inbound and Outbound operations, and today I work as a System Operator.
Each department comes with its own responsibilities, challenges and daily tasks. It is not always an easy environment, but it is never boring. No two days are the same, and that variety keeps the work interesting.
One thing I am particularly proud of is how quickly I have been able to learn. Because I have become reliable and adaptable, I am often asked to move between different departments to provide support wherever it is needed. It feels good to know that people trust me to help keep the operation running smoothly.
Working Together
When I first joined, the workplace was going through a major transition from Witron to Jumbo. The operation was understaffed, many people had left, and the site was effectively being rebuilt. It was a challenging period for everyone.
Despite that, the people who stayed, together with the new colleagues who joined through Proactive Global, worked hard to build a stronger team.
Today, I have a very good relationship with my Team Leader and Area Lead. Communication within the team works well, and everyone is willing to help each other. That positive collaboration has made a real difference.
What also makes this workplace different from previous employers is the variety. The workload, priorities and daily tasks can change constantly, especially for someone like me who works across different departments. That keeps every day interesting and gives me the opportunity to continue learning.
Looking Ahead
If I had to describe the most important quality for success at Jumbo, I would say patience. You need patience and the willingness to face a different challenge every single day.
Looking ahead, I want to continue building my future here and keep developing myself professionally. So far, my experience has been very positive, and I would definitely recommend Proactive Global to others who are looking for a new opportunity.
