FREELANCE QSEH OFFICER

Are you an experienced HSE professional with a strong background in occupational and machine safety? Do you enjoy translating safety standards into practical solutions and driving improvements across an international organisation?

At Vanderlande, you will help strengthen corporate HSE standards and promote consistent, safe working practices across multiple business units and regions. You will work closely with HSE specialists and operational teams to ensure that safety requirements are effectively implemented in practice.

What Will You Do?

As a QSEH Officer within the Corporate HSE team, you will focus on developing, implementing, and improving occupational safety standards across Vanderlande's international operations.

Your responsibilities include:

Developing corporate HSE standards, particularly for LOTO, electrical safety, working at height, and machine safety. Translating corporate requirements into practical procedures and Safe Work Instructions. Supporting implementation across business units and monitoring progress. Advising operational teams on industrial safety risks, including working on or near energised machinery. Identifying gaps in existing practices and driving continuous improvement. Delivering workshops and training to promote awareness and consistent application of safety standards. Maintaining HSE documentation and reporting on implementation progress. Collaborating with local HSE teams, project and service teams, management, technicians, and contractors.
Requirements

You are a proactive, hands-on HSE professional who combines technical expertise with strong communication skills. You can translate complex safety requirements into practical solutions, influence stakeholders, and independently drive improvements.

Ideally, you bring:

A bachelor's degree in HSE Management or an equivalent qualification, such as NEBOSH, HVK, or IVK.Practical experience in occupational and machine safety, preferably in an industrial environment.Knowledge of industrial hazards, electrical safety, and working on or near energised machinery.Familiarity with applicable HSE legislation, safety standards, and safe working procedures.Strong analytical, organisational, and reporting skills.The ability to engage stakeholders, challenge existing practices, and drive improvements.Good computer skills and proficiency with standard office applications.Willingness to travel internationally up to approximately 15% of the time.
What we offer

What will you do?

As an HSE Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining and continuously improving Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) standards at our manufacturing site in Veghel. You will support the organization in creating a safe, sustainable, and compliant working environment.

Your responsibilities include:

Coordinating and improving HSE processes in line with corporate standards. Supporting the development and implementation of the site's HSE strategy together with the QHSE Manager. Delivering HSE training and promoting a strong safety culture across the organization. Leading and supporting sustainability initiatives related to waste, energy, and environmental performance. Preparing and supporting internal and external audits, including ISO 14001 and ISO 50001. Managing HSE reporting, KPI dashboards, and data analysis to drive continuous improvement. Maintaining Risk Assessments (RI&E) and ensuring timely follow-up of corrective actions. Advising and supporting managers and employees on HSE-related topics and best practices.

Your profile
A NEBOSH certification, Intermediate Safety Management (MVK), Integrated Safety & Security Management, or an equivalent/higher qualification in Health, Safety & Environment.At least 2 years of experience in an HSE-related role, preferably within a complex and international organization.Knowledge of and experience with HSE management systems.Strong attention to detail and a service-oriented mindset.Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.Strong written communication skills in both Dutch and English, with the ability to adapt information to different target audiences.Strong digital skills, including experience with SharePoint and Microsoft Excel.
About the Veghel site and Your Team
Our manufacturing facility in Veghel is at the heart of producing components for international projects within the Airport, Warehouse, and Parcel business segments. With more than 165 skilled professionals, we work every day on products that are deployed worldwide.As an HSE Officer, you will work closely with various production teams and colleagues from the local HSE team. You will have a visible presence on the shop floor, interact with stakeholders at different levels of the organization, and play a key role in further strengthening and professionalizing our HSE culture.You will be part of the QHSE team, working alongside five quality professionals and reporting directly to the QHSE Manager. Coördineren en verbeteren van HSE-processen volgens corporate HSE-standaarden. Samen met de QHSE Manager de HSE-strategie van de fabriek bepalen en uitrollen. Verzorgen van HSE-trainingen en ondersteunen van competentiemanagement. Leiden en ondersteunen van duurzaamheidsprojecten. Voorbereiden en begeleiden van interne en externe audits (o.a. ISO 14001 en 50001) en opvolgen van verbeteracties. Beheren en verbeteren van RI&E’s en het opvolgen van daaruit voortkomende acties. Verzamelen, analyseren en verwerken van HSE-data. Opstellen en publiceren van HSE-rapportages en KPI-dashboards. Ondersteunen van teamleiders en HSE-teams bij operationele vraagstukken. Verbeteren van datakwaliteit in systemen zoals VelocityEHS en opvolgen van acties. Coördineren van verbeterinitiatieven op het gebied van duurzaamheid (o.a. afval en energie). Uitvoeren van safety walks en ondersteunen van safety meetings. Delen van lessons learned en best practices binnen de organisatie. Stimuleren van een sterke HSE- en veiligheidscultuur en verbeteren van communicatie hierover.

Wat vragen we van je?

Onze fabriek in Veghel vormt het hart van de productie van onderdelen voor internationale projecten binnen Airports, Warehouse en Parcel. Met meer dan 165 vakmensen werken we dagelijks aan producten die wereldwijd worden ingezet.Als HSE Officer zal je nauw samen gaan werken met diverse productieteams en collega’s uit het lokale HSE‑team.
